The United States Coast Guard Civil Engineering Unit in Miami, Florida, issued the removal of the 400 hertz frequency converter which is used to provide electrical power in the Johns Island Air Station hangar when performing corrective or preventive maintenance on aircrafts. U.S.A. General Contractors, upon being awarded the contract, coordinated the removal and replacement of the converter by Atlantic Electric of Charleston, South Carolina, and the development of the new power supply of both 400 hertz AC and 28 volt DC aircraft power by FCX Systems out of Chesapeake, Virginia.
